1950’s Housewife! – A Bridal Shower

My very dear best friend, Dena, is getting married!! So, in honor of her tying the knot, the Maid of Honor, me and the fellow bridesmaids threw her a 1950’s Housewife bridal shower! We originally got the idea from Pinterest off of a website called The Offbeat Bride (check out their party!). Such a cute theme, we couldn’t resist!! We decided to use the same color scheme of red and teal blue, but added our own twists on everything else, incorporating Dena and the 1950’s into every aspect. And with countless hours of planning, empty wallets and lack of sleep, thankfully it was a success and Dena had a Blast!

Here’s a look at all the fun!

The lips for the Bride and Groom Trivia and some flags I made for the candy bar!

Bride & Groom Trivia Game in action!!

Robin & I also made the prizes for the games and boyyy did we love making these Dry Cookie Ingredients! They were pretty simple to do and uniquely went along with the theme! We grabbed a recipe from online and some ingredients and made 5 jars of goodies including: S’More bars, Classic Chocolate Chip, and Oatmeal Fruit & Almond cookies! We topped them off with a coffee filter, some directions and a little love.

Some of the prize winners! Lucky you! The woman in the middle won the “No Crossed Legs” game. We bought plastic pearl necklaces and had every guest wear one, while explaining that if they caught someone crossing their legs, they could take their beads. Sounds easy right? She got 13 beads, including mine!! Can you believe it?

Nicole, the MOH, brought together the Candy Bar for the favors with lots of sugary love! I made a string of mini bunting [triangle flag garland] that says “love is sweet” along with the flags and directions.

Have you seen these adorable Banana Split Bites on Pinterest? Well they’re a little harder to make than I thought. Especially when transporting them in the Arizona heat when it’s 100 degrees outside. Guests assured me they were tasty, but I think it’s safe to say I still need to learn a thing or two.

One of the gifts I got Dena. A one-of-a-kind vintage cake server with “Just Married” stamped into it. Find it at BHLDN.com, the Anthropologie wedding website.

Haha! Dena was surprised by the perfume I got her. A scent from Bath & Body Works that was discontinued. I used to wear it all the time and she would always ask for a spritz. So when she asked if she could wear it on her wedding day I knew I had to give her her own bottle. Smells like Heaven!!

Sarah took the camera for a bit so the bridesmaids could get a picture together. First thing she said “Pretend like you’re laughing” and this is what we did…

Her response was “I said laugh. At least make it look real!!” and se we did.

I am so blessed to be a part of this lovely lady’s wedding!

Can’t wait for the Bachelorette Party!!
